The Department of English conducted an international seminar on Gender Equality and Global Peace on 23rd August 2023. The seminar was inaugurated by Mr. Irfan Pullani, the International Lawyer and Peace Building Researcher and the keynote speaker was Ms. Alexa Silva Varela, the Internationalist and Gender Peacebuilder.

The inauguration of English Association activities for the year 2023-24 was held on 22.02. 2024. The inauguration was done by Dr. Shahina Mol AK, Assistant Professor of English, KAHM Unity Women’s College, Manjeri. She delivered a talk on Literature in a Hostile Environment

The department of English organized a career-oriented class on Higher Education/ Career after BA in English as part of LEAP programme. Dr. Noufal P, Assistant Professor of English, PSMO College, Tirurangadi was the resource person.

The Department of English at Malabar College of Advanced Studies , Vengara conducted a National Seminar on Reimagining Theory: Contemporary Perspectives and Challenges in collaboration with the Kerala State Higher Education Council (KSHEC) on 25th January 2024. The seminar was inaugurated by the principal-in-Charge of the college Mr. Abdul Bari C. The plenary session was handled by Dr. Shivshankar Rajmohan (Assistant Professor of English, Mangalore University). He presented the topic “The Affective Turn in Theory: Literature, Politics and Emotion”. Paper presentations were held in blended mode. Out of 13 papers 6 papers were presented online. Dr. T Shameema (Assistant Professor of English, Amal College of Advanced Studies, Nilambur) and Ms. Laila V ( Assistant Professor of English, Malabar College of Advanced Studies, Vengara) chaired the paper presentation sessions. A total of 130 students and faculty attended the seminar.

As part of Bridge Course an orientation was given to both students and parents on the college and career opportunities on 4. 9.2023. Advocate Bilal Muhammed and the head of the department Ms. Bishara M led the sessions. Mr. Shameem Akthar, Assistant Professor of Computer Science familiarized the parents’ module of Embase App.

The department of English conducted a workshop on research methodology for the final year students on 11.9.2023. Dr. Shareefa Beegam P P, Assistant Professor of English, PSMO College, Tirurangadi was the resource person.
